ABOUT US

Established in 1973, Young Community Developers, Inc. (YCD) is a 36 year old 501c (3) community based organization that provides a variety of training and support opportunities for residents of the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco. Per year some eighteen hundred individuals (1,800) receive employment and training related services through YCD. The targeted population is among the hardest to serve. Over the years YCD has successfully operated both educational and employment based training opportunities for residents of the Southeast Sector.

OUR MISSION

The Mission of Young Community Developers, Inc. is to empower and inspire Southeast Sector Residents to engage in employment and educational opportunities; by applying the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to be creative and achieve personal success; through comprehensive preparation techniques that result in barrier remediation; developing disenfranchised residents into creative problem solvers and responsible contributors to their families and the economic development of Southeast Sector neighborhoods.

5. We are committed to applying rigorous standards of accountability and shifting the focus of workforce development towards disenfranchised communities.

6. We are committed to train and develop community members according to challenging and clear standards of achievement and accountability.

7. We are committed to assisting and supporting those who have been or are involved in the criminal justice system to develop career skills and lead productive lives.

8. We are committed to encouraging and supporting our clients with engagement in continuing education opportunities at all levels.

9. We are committed to being a beacon of hope where hope is lost; to encourage those who are discouraged; to create and develop Community Leaders who will continue to advocate for equal employment, education, and justice.

10. We are committed to being change agents in partnership with the community we serve.
