Adult & Family Services

YCD offers several job readiness training (JRT) programs and employment support services to all adults in need including formerly incarcerated men and women seeking to reenter the workforce. Our case managers work closely with all YCD customers to support their employment search and selection of job opportunities. We also provide our customers with financial assistance to remove employment barriers.

Youth Development Services

Our Youth Development Department (YD) consists of four city initiatives that assist our youth in their overall development and continued enrichment through job readiness training, academic support, and mentorship. Youth ages 14 - 24 gain community ownership through partnerships with community organization and financial independence. Our diverse and engaging staff teach youth the skills to make, reach and fulfill their goals and aspirations.

Re-entry Services

YCD offers services to assist high at-risk and in-risk individuals, ages 14-35, involved in the justice system. We provide these customers with paid job readiness training; subsidized work experience; and employment and education placement services that align with their interests. Our intensive case management services help them to overcome employment barriers and access additional programs and resources to support their job search.

Housing & Anti-displacement Services

YCD addresses the affordability crisis in District 10 by acquiring, preserving and developing affordable housing. We collaborate with organizations across San Francisco to share and propose strategies and policies that prevent displacement and keep local residents rooted in their communities. To date, YCD has been instrumental in developing 60 units of affordable housing at Pacific Point on the Shipyard. We currently have 156 units of affordable housing in the pipeline at Candlestick Park Block 10A.

Special Initiatives

Black to the Future Services

Black to the Future is a city-supported collaborative of 16 community-based organizations. The collaborative works together to provide a comprehensive system of services for black families in San Francisco. YCD is a proud member of Black to the Future and collaborates with fellow CBOs to strengthen social service for black residents spanning family support and advocacy, education, health and wellness, workforce development, and violence prevention.

Phoenix Project

The Phoenix Project is a collaborative of eight CBOs in San Francisco that serves youth ages 14 to 24 living in four HOPE SF communities: Hunters View, Alice Griffith, Sunnydale and Potrero Terrace & Annex. The project provides holistic services to young people who do not feel safe and valued in traditional programs and institutions. Phoenix Project partners provide life coaches and peer advocates as well as educational, employment, behavioral, physical health, peace promotion and barrier remediation services. As the workforce development partner, YCD ensures that program participants have access to job resources, training and opportunities.
