Future Leaders Organizing Work (FLOW)
FLOW is a summer internship program designed to provide job readiness training and career exploration to high school youth. The program is a partnership with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC)-The SFPUC provides the city with reliable water, power and sewer services.
Youth will be exposed to an array of positive career and postsecondary opportunities through mentorship, field trips and interactive advisement. Interns will walk away with a clear understanding and articulation of careers within the utilities sector.
They will be lead through a series of workshops and activities aimed at helping participants assess their personal interest, motivation and strengths as they relate to planning for and obtaining a career. FLOW will provide District 10 youth the opportunity to explore environmental stewardship careers while learning about and developing a public service campaign around groundwater, flooding, or clean power.
The aim is to engage youth and young adults in meaningful learning opportunities related to SFPUC operations, public service careers, and community and civic engagement; develop Eco literacy among youth and young adults; educate the next generation of environmental stewards; and expose youth to the breadth of career opportunities at the SFPUC, the City, and in the utility sector.
