Interrupt Predict Organize (IPO)
The IPO program is a part of Mayor Ed Lee’s violence prevention initiative. The program identifies “at-risk” youth 18-25 from high crime neighborhoods and offers alternatives to their current lifestyle.
The program began on March 11, 2014 with the first cohort. There were 25 youth and 13 were assigned to YCD. The youth who are mostly from District 10 and the surrounding communities were referred by San Francisco Police Department, San Francisco Adult Probation and SFVIP team. They were selected for their willingness to bring change to themselves and their community. The youth completed 6 weeks of JRT and at the completion began work at DPW. YCD also provide intensive case management and barrier removal services.
Graduates move on to jobs in other city departments.
