Internship Program Roles & Responsibilities

  • Internship Program Overview

    Information Session

    - YCD meets with the hosting worksite to review the program structure, expectations, and timeline. We also finalize the MOU and job description needed for placement.

    One-on-One Meeting

    - The hosting worksite meets with the intern to assess fit, align expectations, and confirm interest.

    Training

    - Interns complete 40 hours of paid job readiness training with YCD, preparing them for professional workplace expectations.

    Site Visits & Ongoing Support

    - Interns are officially matched with a worksite.

    - YCD staff attend the intern’s first day on site

    - A work schedule is created with the on-site supervisor

    - YCD conducts scheduled and occasional pop-up site visits for ongoing support and check-ins

  • Your Role as a Host Partner

    School Year Internships (Ages 14–17):
    - Provide up to 10 hours per week of work experience for 4 months

    Summer Internships (Ages 14–17):
    - Provide up to 20 hours per week of work experience for 2 months

    Year-Round Internships (TAY Aged 18–24):
    - Provide up to 20 hours per week of work experience for 6 months

    - Supervise interns, provide regular feedback, and approve timesheets every two weeks

    - Maintain open communication with YCD staff throughout the internship

  • What to Expect From YCD

    YCD manages recruitment, training, and ongoing support to ensure a successful experience for both interns and host sites.

    YCD provides:

    - Recruitment and screening of interns

    - Four weeks (40 hours) of paid job readiness training prior to placement

    - Ongoing coaching and support for interns

    - Continuous support and check-ins for host site supervisors
