Monica Almendral
Monica Almendral leads YCD’s Housing Pillar, overseeing development, services, and policy initiatives that create culturally responsive and holistic pathways to stable housing for San Francisco’s most vulnerable residents, with a focus on Black households. A third-generation San Franciscan, Monica brings over fifteen years of experience in community serving nonprofits and nearly a decade in community development/real estate. Her background includes extensive work in housing access, systems reform, and cross-sector partnerships. Monica holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Spelman College and is deeply committed to advancing equitable solutions rooted in community voice and lived experience.
Monica’s strongest skills lie in program design, strategic operations, and interagency collaboration. Her passion for place-based impact, paired with her analytical thinking and deep knowledge of San Francisco’s housing landscape, make her a natural fit with YCD’s mission to uplift and empower communities of color.
